We are the surge of spellbound Children

This week I’ve had the honour and complete pleasure of working with Capoeira players Senzala and Paralympians Danny Crates, Zoe Newson and Ade Adepitan for the Flipside Festival in Lowestoft. The idea was to fuse poetry, paralympian values and Brazillian culture in daily one hour performances for school audiences around this seaside town. As well as being fully inspired by the paralympian’s tales of courage and determination I also got to share some poems including a poem commissioned for the festival SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY RUN. The schools had received the poem a few weeks ago as part of a wonderful resource pack provided by Flipside so I expected them to have heard the poem… I did not however expect this ….

It has been a truly beautiful week. The children have been left with the challenge to write a poem themed around the Paralympiam values for The Lowestoft Poetry Competition- I wish them all the best of luck , if their enthusiasm and MORERAP suggestions are anything to go by I’m sure they are going to be fab.
