This poem was inspired by a childhood memory of a family holiday where my mother asked me what I wanted to be when I was older. I’ve always found the sea shore hugely relaxing especially when the tide is on its way out, maybe because of this memory – I was young and as the sun was setting I felt like anything was possible.
