Stockton Central Library, Stockton-on-Tees

It seems the gauntlet has been thrown down for creative ways to take part in this years #SummerReadingChallenge@readingagency first there was Acklam Library with their little astronaut board and now Stockton with their space chaser masks! Using the super images of @adam.stower. The 70’s designed building is huge and bright and airy. I’m so often saying that books are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what libraries have to offer and Stockton is a prime example with Council Customer services occupying the same building alongside a genealogy reference library, a cafe, a gallery space and an innovation Station where library member have used 3D printers to recreate local buildings! ————————————————-
Library staff Mike, Katherine and Mark gave me a wonderful tour and we had a lot of fun thinking up new ways to take the best photo. I lunched in Stockton on good ole fish and chips and was near laughed out the shop when I requested a pickled egg (just a south thing then!) I’ve been donating some poetry books to each library and had forgotten to leave stockton theirs, on my return librarian Mike was actively engaged in what looked like a super and packed family craft session. Libraries really do have it all.
