Edit your work through performance.

I’ve Just had an explosive assembly performance at Keir Hardy Primary where a student told us about his three legged cat! I love performing new work at schools it’s by far the best way to find out whether the writing works for the age group and you always end up finding something new in the text and ways of pushing a piece further. My ‘Little bit of food’ Poem became a great segway into a discussion about culture and community as students shared their home dishes… Lasagne, jallof rice, jerk chicken, rhubbarb (a polish speciality apparently??? Can anyone confirm this??) I’ll be doing an open workshop for 8-12 yr olds at New Writing South on 1st December, where i’ll be, as always sharing some new pieces and getting the participants to write. Please bring your little poets and please spread the word.
