I’ve spent the last two days in North Lincolnshire with the Power Of Words (POW) Festival run by North Lincolnshire Council. I had the joy of running sessions with years 1, 3, 4 and 5 at four schools sharing poems and getting the students to write their own. Whilst I was here it was a good opportunity to visit some libraries. The brilliant POW duo Sarah Tipler and Emma Wilkinson not only got me to my school sessions and looked after me throughout but also ensured i got to some Libraries in North Lincolnshire and the surrounding authorities.

I was met at Immingham library in North East Lincolnshire with an incredibly warm welcome by LincsInspire team Lawrence Dunn, Derek O’Connel and Samuel Dean. The library looked great covered in images of the Rocket Family in readiness for the Summer Reading Challenge during which the library will hold Book Chats, Fun Days and Craft Days where you can make aliens and space ships and talk about your favourite books. The library has a museum on site and on August 12th will host a live performance and Reading of War of The Worlds – So aliens are definitely a feature this summer.

I was joined up to the library by Customer Care Assistant Steven Pegg (no relation) who even gave me a choice of library card, naturally I chose the one with a t-rex on the front.
