Haltemprice Library, East Riding

Haltemprice Library, East Riding

It was a gloriously hot day and I had spent the morning running writing workshops at The Big Malarky Festival in Hull. Once done I met up with Librarian Tracey Booth who kindly drove me to the fantastic Haltemprice Library to meet with staff and join up. Haltemprice is a little bit special being, as it is, in a leisure complex, it is constantly abuzz with activities as families finish swimming lessons or other activities and then drop into the library for a read.

The library recently held an Elmer Day and staff told me about a wonderful sounding reminiscence project where participants remember their past Christmases, for instance, with the aide of a memory box. Like many other libraries at the moment they too are gearing up for the summer reading challenge and so I had to get a selfie in front of The Summer Reading Challenge banner with librarians Tracey Booth and Rebeca Slater and CSN Operational Manager Kerry Ward. There is a lot going on at Haltemprice so if you’re in the areado check out their events page where you can find out about Knit and Natter events as well as book clubs and much more besides.
