Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library, Norfolk

Having spent the morning at The Fly Festival at The University of East Anglia I took a detour on the way home to The Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library. It is an impressive building at the centre of town complete with cafes and eateries and even an art gallery inside. Staff were so friendly and told me all about their Summer Reading Challenge official launch which will be taking place on 20th July. As someone who myself took part in my local Summer Reading Challenge I can absolutely recommend getting your children along this summer holiday, this year’s theme is Space Chase and there are lots of recommended reading books, why not get to your local library and get involved… https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk.

As well as the anticipated launch The Millennium Library also offers a whole host of other activities including slime making workshops and silent discos. Whilst I was visiting there was an exhibition on by David Shenton called ‘Kindly Ease The Tension’ a fantastic knitted comic book strip telling the tale of the artist learning to knit and his family’s response. A fantastic work that is on display until 31st August.

I was joined up to the Library by staff Bev Buller and Grace Burrows who took a quick selfie with me in front of the fantastic teen section, I particularly liked the old book posters that adorned the walls including one for beat poet Jack Kerouac’s On The Road, a personal favourite read.
