I think a bit of mess is a sign of a well used library. librarian Elaine Shefford tells me how often she has to return to the children’s section to re-shelf books because they are constantly being taken out and thumbed and flicked through and read.

Washington Centre often holds Storyclass sessions with school groups so large that they need to be split in two with one half doing Craft sessions whilst the other half hear a story (and are encouraged to join up to the library) the groups then swap.

there was a gorgeous story-sofa in the childrens library that I was wishing I could squeeze into the van.

At Washington Centre Library I borrowed the wonderful There’s Going To Be A Baby by Helen Oxenbury and John Burningham.
